Upcoming Ps Benny Ho Seminar: Impacting the 9-5 Window - The Marketplace -

Please see upcoming seminar from Arrow Ministry under Pastor Benny Ho.
Do join if you are available that day!

*************************************************************************************

Dear Brothers and Sisters-in-Christ,

Matthew 5:13,14 tell us that we are to be salt and light in this world. And we are to let our light so shine before man that they may see God and glorify Him in heaven.

Question: But where is this salt and light suppose to function?

Answer: Where the unbelievers are! - In the market places of the world!

Therefore our work is a platform for us to function as salt and light in this world. It takes us to places where otherwise we cannot go.

In our Arrows Seminar this month, Ps Benny will share with us on how God
uses our workplace as a vechicle to transform the society.

IMPACTING The 9-5 WINDOW

- 'The Marketplace'-

Missionary advocates over the last few decades have called our attention to
the “10-40 Window”; the region that spans between the 10 degrees and the
40 degrees latitude north of the equator, from Africa through to East Asia.

But in recent years, the Church is beginning to realize that there is another
window that is opened to the advancement of the Gospel – the “9-5 Window”
that focuses on the Marketplace.

The marketplace contains divine opportunities that are just as exciting!

Session 1: My Work; My Ministry

Session 2: Impacting The 9-5 Window

Session 3: From the Workplace to the Nations

This series challenges the believer to a whole new perspective to our work.
Our work is more than a means to make a living. It is God’s gift to transform
your life, your workplace, your city and the nations!

Whether you are a housewife, a student, a businessman, a professional,
an educationalist, a salesman, a plumber or a preacher; God wants to live
His life and make His presence known in the 9-5 Window through you!

Come and be challenged through this exciting new series! Sign up today!

3 Cheers for Team Nergy - "We are more than conquerors..." Rom 8:37‏

A pleasant miracle happened this afternoon on the basketball courts of Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School. Our “Team Nergy” took part in the Young Adults Captain’s Ball competition and emerged as Champions. A worthy note is that out of the 12 teams competing, we’re the second oldest group, besides the Pastors’ team.

Yes, it is true indeed! We came, we played and we conquered! It was a hard-fought victory against younger and faster opponents who counted basketball players on their roll-call. The sun was scorching hot at about 1 pm before the games began. However, when the games commenced, it seemed as if God had held an umbrella of clouds over KCPSS to shield all of us from being BBQed like lobsters. And though there were dark clouds looming over the school, the Lord mercifully held back the raindrops until we had completed the Grand Finals. Our team won the 1st prize of a $100 Sakae Sushi Voucher (a timely gift from God for our completion of S.H.A.P.E. CG celebration).

Honorary Awards:

“The Wall” Dave Mann - for blocking just about every shot attempt and kept our scores looking impressive. If there was a Great Wall in Bartley. Dave would be the “Mann”

“Super-Defender” Lye Deming – for his energetic blocking moves around opponents and gravity-defying interceptions of high passes.

“Star-Striker” Fannie’s Cousin – an energetic 15-yr old who also happens to be a sharp-shooter in Captain’s Ball.

“Super-Striker” Nathalyn – for gamely planting herself at the frontline and snatching balls from opponents to score for our team.

“Mama-Striker” Rentze – for proving conclusively that motherhood has no adverse effect on a person’s athletic prowess. She ran all over the courts and demonstrated great skills both in defending and scoring. She managed to run circles around our opponents despite losing her “soles” midway thru the competition. I quote a bad pun by Dave “We had saved her sole”, when one of Rentze’s runaway sole flew across the court in front of us sitting by the sidelines.

“RARA Queens” Fannie & Jiayee – for inventing loud and colorful cheers at the sidelines to provide much needed RARA support to our hard-playing team members.

“Magneto” Zhenghui – who seems to have a magic magnet in his hands, any ball that touches his fingers will be drawn into the center of his palms. He was able to hold on to the balls despite heroic attempts by the athletic defenders to block him. All we had to do was lob a ball in the general direction of his “magnetic grip”.

“Mr Nergy” Go Kevin Goh – for inspiring our team to excellence and aim for the championship with his passion and excitement for the game. Kudos also for his excellent strategy to involve every member of the team, leveraging on each member’s ability and strength to win for the team. (A practical demonstration of S.H.A.P.E in action).

Thanks also to everyone who had come to either play or support the event!

Cheers,
Chris Tan

Donut Party!

Welcome back Dave, Heather and Jonathan!

We had a good turnout & excellent time of fellowship at last Friday's cg meeting . Why?

1) Suyin led us through a wonderful time of worship with upbeat/moving songs like "Hosanna", "All the way my Savior leads me" and "As We Worship You".
2) Kevin, on the back of July Mission Month, guided us through the study of Genesis 12:1-9, making us reflect on the pure faith and obedience of Abraham and encouraging us to use our gifts and resources as a CG to bless other people.
3) We celebrated the birthdays of July babies, Lifen and Chris, with yummy donuts!!

Hope everyone had a good time, I did =)

Book of Philippians: Finding Joy in the Midst of Trials (Ps Benny Ho Seminars)

Ps Benny will start the Year 2008 teaching on "Book of Philippians: Finding JOY in the Midst of Trials". This Seminar is conducted over two months. PART1 will be taught in Feb08 and PART2 will be taught in Mar08. Below are the details for the up coming seminar in Feb08:

Book of PHILIPPIANS: PART 1 -> JOY in the midst of Trials

Happiness depends on happenings; but JOY depends on CHRIST. The word HAPPINESS evokes visions of unwrapping gifts on Christmas morning, strolling hand in hand with the one you love, being surprised on your birthday etc. Everyone wants to be happy; we making chasing this elusive idea a lifelong pursuit; spending money, collecting things, and searching for new experiences.

But if happiness depends on our circumstances, what happens when the toys rust, loved one die, health deteriorates and party is over? Often happiness flees and despair sets in. In contrast to happiness stands JOY. Running deeper and stronger, joy is the quiet, confident assurance of God's love and work in our lives - that He is there for us no matter what!

The Epistle to the Philippians was written to the first church planted in Europe. Although it was written out of a time of trial, it is a book that resonated with the JOY of the LORD... It is an Epistle that inspires us to focus our thoughts and actions on Jesus Christ. When adverse circumstances, disunity, the quest for accomplishments, or anxiety threaten our joy, this letter provides a powerful tool that can help us fix our vision on Jesus. Only by discovering Him first will we discover the peace and contentment that come from God

A study of this book will reveal the secrets of a joy-filled life. An immensely practical study, coverage includes:

*Christian Perspective to Suffering
*Christian Character & Conduct
*Staying Free from Legalism
*Running The Race to Win
*Winning Over Worry and Anxiety
*Walking in The Abundance of God and more....
