CG 40DOC Final Session + Bdays

Completed the 40DOC series tonight, looking at the area of "Serving Together", and we ended with a time of group sharing about what we learnt from the 6 weeks. It was heartening and encouraging to hear how God has been working in each other's lives and the many different lessons we have all learnt through our time together.

Would like to thank all the CG facilitators that helped out with the sessions and discussions, as well as everyone who served throughout the 6 weeks, in Welcome/Snacks, Worship, Word, prayer, inviting friends, etc. Also really encouraged by the commitment and enthusiasm of our new friends, Demin, Mirzi, Carmela, Jennifer, Serena, who came down for most, if not all, the 6 weeks faithfully. Really hoped you were blessed, because we sure were blessed by you.

Praying for Mei Xuan

It was Mei Xuan's last Sunday with us as she was returning to UK for studies on Friday morning. Passed her a copy of the 40DOC book, to use the devotional guide and hopefully find the material useful in her QT and fellowship with other Christians in Holy Spirit Platt (her home church in Manchester). Spent some time to pray for her as a CG. Have a safe trip and blessed school year ahead, Mei Xuan!

YA Captain's Ball 2 (We won 3rd prize!)

We came, we saw, we conquered! Well, 3rd prize, that is. Considering that we won 2 years ago, when our group was the youngest, and last year 4th (out of 6), this year's 3rd place out of 8 teams, us being the oldest group, is quite an achievement. Hooray! Our prize was a $40 Swenson's voucher, which we'll probably use for our Social Gathering on 29th Sep at Zhenghui and Renzi's place. Warm welcome to more new friends who came today, Calvin and Fuwei (+ Teck, Hanqiang, Grace and Qisi). A couple of us went for an early dinner at a nearby hawker centre after the tournament. "Da Vinci Code Deception" + Bdays

We had our session watching an interesting and educational documentary on the Da Vinci Code. Renzi shared her testimony, and Dave explained the gospel message. We had a good time of discussion, as people were able to raise questions and discuss them in a safe and neutral environment. We had some new friends who joined us, Keith, Mei Xuan, Qisi and Hanqiang. We also celebrated the birthdays of Heather, Yewya (and Abrie).

YA Captain's Ball - Round 1

The sun was out, the teams were ready, we had our first round of Captain's Ball last Sunday. It was hot, hot, hot! We sent in 2 teams, and despite being the oldest group around, we managed to do pretty well, winning quite a few matches. A big welcome to all our new friends who joined us, Andy, Hanqiang, Mei Xuan, Qisi, Teck and Grace.

Email update from Xinmin

Sorry for missing in action for such a long time. Has been busy lately with my work and the day-to-day stuffs.

Well, God has been good. I'm sorta settled down in my church in Perth, joined the young adults group and am currently serving in the music ministry. I have attached a picture of the young adults outing to Joondalup Mini-golf club. Was fun and thank God that I managed to bring a colleague to join us for that event as well.

Work has started to take its toil, not in terms of hours but handling of the Aussie Culture. However thank God for his guidance and I guess I have learnt not to concentrate so much on work but on building relationship with people around me. Am trying to reach out to 2 of my colleagues, one from Malaysia and one from Mauritius. Pray that I would be a good testimony to them. At the same time, am really encouraged that my ex-manager from Singapore has been going to church constantly. While she is open to the gospel, she is still in the midst of searching. Just pray for her that God will speak to her and that one day she will give her heart to our God and saviour.

With the more time on hand, I finally have time to read up on Christian literature, something that I have not done for a long.... time. Will update you guys when I have the chance.

That's all for now. Am really thankful for God's provision for our cell group at BCC. Pray that all of us will continue to work faithfully for God's ministry.

See you guys when I come back in December.

CG Practical Evangelism Training 1 + Birthdays!

We began our 2-part Practical Evangelism Training today, focusing on the first 2 of 4 skills - Hearing and Illuminating. Had a good time of interaction and discussion after the session. Spent time to share about and pray for our friends (to invite to Captain's Ball and DVC session). Celebrated birthdays of Amilyn (5th) and Hongmei (17th). Prayed for Hongmei too as she hurt her back whilst rollerblading last Wed, as well as her grandma who is experiencing coughing and pains. Pray for God's protection, comfort and healing.

Kevin's birthday

Celebrated Kevin's birthday after 2nd service. Happened that Fanny was around over the weekend too, so she was able to celebrate with us. Wishing Kevin God's best and favor as he works with youths under probation in MCYS. Blessings, bro!

Combined CG gathering

We had a great time of makan, fellowship, catching up with each other tonight at our Combined CG gathering. Was blessed as we worshipped and gave God the praise and glory for who He is and how He has lead us as CGs thus far. Reminded me of His hand in guiding us these past 2.5 years. Also was greatly encouraged by sharings from Amilyn, Eddie and Hongmei, to see and hear that what we seek to be in CG makes a difference. Tim and Wenxing shared about how the Lord has been guiding the CGs the past 2-3 months, and what lies ahead this year. We ended the time with sharing and praying in pairs (1 from each CG), and also praying for Wenxing and Nat as they continue and commit to serve as CGLs this year and beyond. May God continue to bless and grow them as leaders to lead with passion, vision, and love.

Beta finale

We had our last session on Beta 12 today. Spent an extended time sharing what we had learnt and applied through the Beta course. Prayed for one another too. Spent some time at the end of CG to pray for Joy, who will be away from 27-30 Jul in Indonesia for a medical mission. Pray for safety as they travel and wisdom and love as they minister to the locals. We also prayed for the situation in Israel, for God's purposes and peace to prevail in the Middle East.

Skye in Mumbai

Hi, if you follow the news, mumbai India had a terror attack on the train. Skye, who is there for CIP, was near where the attack took place. Thank God the whole is safe. Below is the transcript when I chat with her at the Internet Café.

Fire Conference (Reinhard Bonnke)

About half the CG attended the Fire Conference Night Rally where we were truly blessed, a time of awesome worship led by Paul Baloche, and the challenging message and testimony of Reinhard Bonnke. The thing that impacted me the most was his contagious passion and utmost conviction of the power of the gospel to save for everyone who believes (Rom 1:16). S21 Creative Hands

Members from both CGs helped out at this year's S21 Creative Hands workshop that reaches out to the children and parents in the S21 community. About 50+ kids attended this year, and got their hand at various sorts of arts and crafts.

CG Beta 10 + Prayer for Dave

Session on "Godly Relationships" today. Prayed for Dave today at CG, as he will be going for a minor op this coming Mon morning, to correct the veins in his left leg. Pray for a smooth op and restful time of recovery.

TM412 Sports Extreme (Peiyun's sharing)

TM412 had their annual Sports Extreme at Presbyterian High this year, combining the standard sports like mini soccer, basketball with other creative games like touch frisbee, jenga, uno and taboo. Peiyun did a great job during the gospel sharing at the end, to challenge the youths and newcomers on knowing and living by God's rules.

Global Day of Prayer 2006

Met Joy, Heather, Meifong, Nathaniel at Kallang MRT around 5.30pm. Took the shuttle bus with 1st batch, Filipino members, sat at center right column facing the stage. Each of us were given a GDOP pack containing a nation flag, water, biscuits and prayer booklet. It was a good time of worshipping and praying to the Lord, as the pastors led us through different segments of prayer for nations, country, youth, etc. 11 of us from our 2 CGs attended, all in all about 25-30 Bartleyans. Let us continue to intercede and stand in the gap for our nation and the nations!

CG Prayer & Praise

Tim's group had prayer & praise tonight, as the group was small, and some were attending "Exploring the Da Vinci Code" organised by TM412 in church. Good extended time just worshipping and praying. Claimed upon Ps 27:4, reflecting on what is worship, and what is meant by dwelling in God's courts, gazing upon His beauty, and seeking Him in His temple. Pray for Xinhong as she takes a short break in Hanoi this Sunday for a week with her boss. Blessed birthday to Lois (26th) and Joy (30th)!

Sin Ming: Greetings from Down Under

Hi everyone,

Well, thanks for your prayers. I am doing well so far. The weather has been good for the past week. Actually managed to get quite a couple of things done including buying furnitures and settling some of my administrative stuffs. Now waiting for furnitures to come in and in the mean time trying to buy a car. Hiring one at the moment.

Many blessings to count actually. Firstly, how I got around Perth safely and how I got to church safely on Sunday. My church has moved house thus was going round and round looking for it. Finally decided that this is too much of a hassle and parked my car and started walking to church instead. It is nice indeed to meet up with my church mates again although many things seems to have changed...

On the whole, I am doing fine and well. Work is starting only next week. Will keep you guys updated.

Sun - prayer for Lifen

Lifen arrived last night about 10pm, and joined us for 1st service on Sunday. After service, we spent some time to pray for her as she transitions back to work life here in Singapore, adjusting to 2 new summer interns and new colleague. Pray for full recovery of health as well, as she was sick over the weekend.

CG Beta Session 6

Prayed for Xinmin as a CG tonight. She shared about her final preparations (esp. admin), and the 1st 2 weeks there before she would start work, to settle housing, phone, bank, etc. Pray for God's protection and safety as she travels by car for work, and smooth transition into the work life and integration into the church life too. Pray for God to refresh and grow her as she seeks to spend more time reading and learning from His Word. Flight details: QA32, Tue 9.30am.

CG Beta Session 5

Spent some time to give thanks to God for Kevin who got baptised and Heather who transferred membership to Bartley on Easter Sunday. Also prayed for Church Camp fund-raising the coming Sunday, where some of our members set up a sandwich stall, to raise funds for camp subsidies.

We will take up an offering (on last week of May) for church camp, for those who are not going, to bless those who are intending to go, but have financial difficulties.

Easter + Baptism Sunday

2 of our CG members got baptised today, Lynnett and Kevin. Also, Jason and Heather transferred their membership to Bartley as well. Many friends and family were present to witness their baptism, and hear the gospel message as well. Welcome to the Bartley family!

CG Good Friday (Picnic/Treetop Walk)

Praise God for holding off the monsoon rains that hit some parts of Singapore to the point of 77cm of flooding. Our 2 groups met at MacRitchie and Botanic Gardens for a tree-top walk and picnic. Thank God for the new friends that joined us, Shu Hui, Calvin and Grace.

YA "Great Bowling Friendly"

CG Beta 2 & 3

Had 2 sessions on Beta the past 2 weeks. News: Welcome back also to Peiyun from her trip. Thank God for a blessed time of ministry and interaction with the youths through sports. Lifen also wrote back to inform that it has been finalised that she will be returning on 30th Apr. Xinmin is going to be stopping work soon, and preparing to head off to Australia for work as well. Praise God for His provision to Hongmei who is starting her course in Early Childhood in end-Mar.

CG Beta Session 1

Had our first Beta session on "The Good News" (1 John 5:12) in our 2 groups today. Wenxing's group met at Rindu, Tim's group met at church. Welcome to our new friend, Amilyn, who joined us for the first time (found out that she was Joy's schoolmate too). Bday dinner with friends

Had a bday dinner with friends on Sunday. Was a good time, making takopochi balls, watching NBA All-Star weekend, half of Moulin Rouge, and table soccer competition (which the guys won*! :p) I thank God for the gift and blessing of friendship, and the community of believers, united together as one in the body of Christ. That's one of the greatest blessings I thank God for this year - you! All of you have made an impact and influence on my life. Thank God for His grace and love in the past year.

CG Sports Night - Bowling

Had our CG Sports Night organised by Nat. We met at Textile Centre near Lavender MRT, tucked away on the 8th floor of an office building. Had a few rounds of bowling, and some played pool as well. Glad to have Dennis, Jim's friend, join us as well.

YA Blading & BBQ

Weather was great today. Couple of our members were at the Blading Clinic at 3pm, and most of us joined later on for the BBQ at East Coast Park. Quite a few new friends, praise the Lord. Managed to catch up with Teck, Raymond, David, Brad, Zhou Qi. Click below for some photos and clips.

CG BS Accountability 1 + Feb Bdays

Began a BS series on Accountability. Today we looked at the What and Why? of accountable relationships, our church's 2nd core value. We also celebrated Feb birthdays, namely Zhenghui (3/2) and Xinhong, Xinmin (9/2).

Dinner with supported missionaries

Attended wake of Charles' grandmother on Fri night, conducted by YCK Chapel. Treated him and Hongyan to dinner at Bishan Pastamania with some CG members on Sunday night. They will be around until next Sunday, 12th Feb.

CNY Visitation - Zhenghui/Renzi's

Couple of us visited Zhenghui and Renzi's family on 3rd day of CNY. We had a short time of conversation over snacks.

CG CNY Dinner

Was a great time of food, fun and fellowship as we celebrated Chinese New Year as a CG. Glad that Isaac, David, Michael, Loong and Conrad could join us. We had traditional steamboat (+ bbq) and enjoyed a round of Guesstures which had everyone enjoying themselves with fun and laughter.

Vineyard Retreat

Almost 8-10 of us attended the Vineyard Retreat over the Fri-Sat weekend in church. It was a refreshing time of learning from God's Word and sharing and praying through the goals and direction for the new year. A couple of us went for dinner at Novena after the Sat session.
